Hi all!
Being a homebody lately, due to work from home arrangements and the urge to avoid dinner crowds outside, I have been turning a lot of home delivery of yummy snacks. There are a few companies that are in my top few favourites and one of the contenders is Bao Wow Otah Buns!
Bao Wow also does B2B by supplying to restaurants, eateries, and supermarkets. They are known for our unique spice and taste, made possible because of our use of freshly line caught Spanish Mackerel.
The otah paste are made of Spanish Mackerel.
Delivery
They provide two type of deliveries. First would be the urgent one hour delivery and the next would be the ordinary free one hour delivery time slots. This arrangement are great for office crowds and parties. A box or two of our signature Otah Buns are the perfect add-ons to a party. They also make a great mid-day snack. These are so popular that at some periods, these buns will be out of stock. So get them while they are still available!
- Delivery is free for all orders above $100.
- Delivery is $6 per order for deliveries under $100.
Bao Wow provide hourly delivery time slots for your greatest enjoyment, 10 am to 10 pm daily, 7 days a week. For order deliveries from 10pm โ 1:30am, we have an additional $25 Midnight Delivery Surcharge. There is a $10 surcharge deliveries on all PH, Eve of PH and peak period.ย $15 will be charged for failed deliveries.
Option for Frozen or delivered Piping Hot
The buns come in 5 in a box. On the ordering page, you can opt for either frozen or delivered piping hot.
If you are consuming at a later part of the day, I do recommend the frozen version which can be kept in the freezer up to 6 months or so. These were delivered to me beginning of April and the expiry on these were up till December. I prefer receiving them frozen as I can store these in my freezer and pull them out to make some last minute snacks or even for gathering with friends.
The buns are also housed in a tall plastic container that will prevent the buns from being crushed when stacked in the freezer. This allows easy storing of the buns in the fridge.
This also allows me to cling wrap it easily when I wanted to mix and match my flavours for the day.
Preparation for Frozen Buns & 3 Flavours
Preparing it is quite straight forward. It didn’t take long to steam these as I popped them over the steamer in its frozen state and all it took was 12-16 minutes for the buns to be soft and for the otah paste to be fully cooked. There are 3 flavours that we can choose from Bao Wow, which are namely: Original, Pandan and Charcoal.
The buns after being steamed are super fluffy. For the Pandan flavour, to be honest, I cannot taste the flavour as all as it is covered by the strong spices of the otah paste. And surprisingly, the otah paste tastes spicier in my charcoal bun than the other flavours. Even though there was not much difference between the original and the charcoal buns as well, I personally prefer the charcoal bun for its uniqueness and it will sure be the showstopper in parties and gatherings.
You can see the generous slab of the otah paste in between the fluffy buns. Overall, I would personally purchase them again as they were fast to prepare, and easy to store.
