Hello everyone!
Thereย ia a new video in my YouTube subscription list and it is none other than the famous gossmakeupartist! He is raving about this product from Paula’s Choice and how it made a huge difference to his skin. Check out his video HERE. And I thought, okay, I must do a review on my Paula’s Choice skincare range because this is a life changing skincare rangeย for me and I hope to share with girls out there who face the same problem that I used to have!
These areย the few products from Paula’s Choice that I purchased from the US site. What made me decided to puck up my courage and venture into this skincare I have not heard of before, was due to my skin. I was so desperate. It was around October after my Hong Kong trip during which my skin broke out like crazy. Itย was horrifying. In despair, I researched on skincare products at Makeupalley.com and I came across this product called BHA liquid 2% of which is being raved about on MUA. I bought it hoping that it would save my skin and now here I am today!
Let me show you the before and after pictures:
*After picture is tagged wrongly. It should be 21/12/10
Even when I breakout, mostly due to hormones or being too heaty, the condition is still under control. I know it’s disgusting for the before picture but yes this is how my skinย has beenย since puberty started (when I was around 13 years old). I have been battling acne forย 8 years now and I have tried almost all the solutions out there.
Here are some treatments ย that I tried before and obviously did not do much help to me:
1) Acne.org routine(benzoyl peroxide cleanser and gel) – It works only for a short period of time but these products dry my skin out like mad.
2) Sulfur based products(such as Mario Badescu buffering lotion) – This works better than the above few products but perhaps the alcohol in my MB buffering lotion is too harsh on my skin. Dries out my skin too. This is great for drying out my pimples.
3) Antibotics pills– This manages to suppress my acne reasonably well but once I am off the pill, all hell breaks loose.
4) Hormone supressing pills – Same as the above.
There are obviously other methods that works for acne too, but I did not tryย them out because I do not want to do harm to my body by taking so many pills. Using so many acne treatments in the past has definitely thin out my skin a lot and made my skin very sensitive unfortunately.
Alright enough with the sad story, here I am going to review the products that are now part of my skincare regime that pretty much save my life!

The star product – Exfoliating 2% BHA Liquid
ย
Review:
I believe this product as well as B.liv Off with those heads serum helped in the improvement of my skin. My acne is somewhat suppressed now with only occasional breakouts (especially when there is a high level of toxic in my body). My skin is definitely smoother and more radiant. Now I no longer need other exfoliating products as this is sufficient. One downside is that when this product is used, I need to keep my skin out of UV rays because my skin would be more sensitive to sunlight. Hence, SPF products are a must when I go out.

Skin Balancing Cleanser
Review:
I love this more than my Centaphil gentle cleanser because this has more foam and hence works much better with my Clarasonic. This is pretty much a gentle cleanser and thus is very friendly to your skin. Best for sensitive skin like mine.
Skin Balancing Toner
Review:
This toner is nothing special, but I do love the fact that it is alcohol free. If you want to try out Paula’s Choice skincare, this is not really a must get product because I believe there are gentle toners without alcohol out there too. Just make sure your toner is fragrance free as well to prevent your sensitive skin (if you have) from acting up. This toner would be good for all skin types I believe and is not drying at all.
Skinย Recovery Superย Antioxidant Concentrate Serum w/ Retinol
Review:
If you have oily skin, stay away from this. I am not saying that it is bad, but different products work on different skins. My skin at the time of purchase was dry, dehydrated and flaky. Hence I purchase the anti-oxidant serum meant for dry skin. After using this, I would definitely purchase the anti-oxidant serum for oily skin. I definitely do not need retinol at my age, but like I said, I had really dry skin that time. This applies very smoothly but does not sink into my skin fast so I am using this more like a night serum. I believe the anti-oxidants are very important in the skincare regime so if you want to try a serum and that you have oily skin, go for the Skin balancing antioxidant serum instead.
Skin Recovery Hydrating Treatment Mask
Review:
I used this as an overnight mask fore-nightly. This is excellent in keeping your skin moisturized.ย However, if you have oily skin, you can just use this as a regular mask. It is not bad to use it frequently but sometimes too much of this is too moisturizing for you skin and you might ended up being super oily during the day.
All in all, I would recommend the BHA 2% liquid and Skin Balancing/Recovery anti-oxidant serumย if you really want to try Paula’s Choice! I would be posting up my skincare routine soon too. I hope my review is useful and for those fighting acne, never give up! I have been there before (:
