Hi all!
Here is another food review and more to come!
Bistro Du Vin is opened by the Les Amis Group. Please pardon my blur pictures as the restaurant is very dimmed at night. My camera has a hard time focusing.
My family made time to try this french food restaurant for my parent’s wedding anniversary. Finally is the right word to use as we have alwasy pass by this quaint little parisian inspired restaurant at Shaw Tower evertime we drove there.
Their menu is easy to read since they have english descriptions.
Onion Soup $14
THE BEST ONION SOUP EVER! You sink your spoon into the cheese and the aroma of the caramelized onions whips straight up to your nose. The drenched bread inside this soup is saturated with the onion goodne favouriteย ss! My soup ever! I urge you to try this. This soup alone actually fills up my stomach fast because there is just so much in this small pot – onions, soup, bread and CHEESE!
Escargots (6 pc) $15
I had a fair share of Escargots since young because I am a die hard fan for these snails. This escargot dish is just mediocre in my opinion. Herbs were sufficient but I think there is just a lack of garlic to bring out the taste. I have tasted better. Still, escargots is my favourite dish in the world!
Berkshire Pork Chop $28
This pork chop unfortunately is too dry for our tasting and the bacon was neither salty or tender (just some meat and a few layer of fats). Mashed potato on the other hand is buttery creamy. Not planning to go for this dish again.
Coq Au Vin (Braised Chicken) $33
The sauce / stew is my favourite, as there is a heavy dose of red wine in it. Chicken melts into the mouth and this warm dish really warms up our stomach. Vegetables were cooked to perfection. This portion is huge and I think you would need two mouths to finish this pot.
Angus Ribeye $42
Sad to say, this is not the best Ribeye I have tasted. For $42, I expected something more. The meat is not tender enough for me though the taste is fairly okay. Even with the grilled marks on the ribeye, I could not taste much smokiness from the steak. Perhaps I shall try other dishes next time.
Truffle fries $3 Top Up (as a side dish for Angus Ribeye)
Hmmm truffle, this is only my second time trying truffle fries but I do know I am falling in love with truffle oil. These fries are fairly tasty but because we are so full from our main dish, we could not add any more carbs to our stomach. I personally prefer american fries which are thinner like Macdonald fries because they are more crispy. Well, I guess these french fries are French?
Confit De Canard (Duck) $28
The skin is golden brown crispy good with theย juicy moistย meat on the bones. The choucrouteย side is a little bland though and I wish they had just a little more sauce/ jus reduction for the duck confit. Nevertheless, I would recommend you this dish if you were to dine in this french restaurant.
We ate so much that we have no more room for dessert. What a pity because I am a fan of desserts. Still, there is a chance as I would be coming back for more! Some hit and misses with the food here but it is worth returning to the restaurant since there are so many other dishes in the menu. The next time, I will try their lunch set meal!
