Hi all!
We just collected our keys to our BTO back in October, and boy, flats nowadays are getting ready small. Because of this, I feel that many homeowners like us are opting more for projectors that are more compact instead of big-screen TVs.
LUMOS has a series of projectors and Ray is one of the three that is suitable for rooms / entertainment rooms. When it comes to projectors for entertainment rooms, as someone who is not tech savy, the main selling factor has to be the portability and also the ease of turning it on and linking it to devices.
Hence, the projector that I had is the smart version which has in built apps such as Netflix, and can even mirror cast the phone onto the projector.
Even in a small room, the screen can be up to 150″ as it is a short throw projector. With a short throw capability, you can easily get a 50ย to 75-inch screen with only 1.5 to 2.5m distance needed. This projector was placed in our bedroom in a 4 room BTO flat.
Brightness and Sharpness
At 3,000, LUMOS Ray is at the top tier level of such projectors, giving it a vibrant and richer graphic & color quality. 720p Native Resolution (HD) and supporting 1080p (BluRay FHD), you are able to see every single detail.
Sound Quality
Built to be like a speaker, LUMOS Ray has 2 inbuilt Dolby Audio Speakers, making the sound ultra-rich with strong bass. That means watching action movies become so much more cinema-like and epic.
Compatibility
Works amazingly well for multi-player party games PS4 and Nintendo switch where everyone gets a sizeable share of a 150″ screen. The projector has HDMI, USB and AV Ports for Consoles, Karaoke and more. Phone casting is also available without any apps required.
For the projector that I had, it comes with inbuilt Wifi and apps like Netflix, Youtube and Android 9.0 operating system.
Vertical & Horizontal Keystone Correction
The Ray projector is the perfect size for bedrooms and entertainment rooms.ย Measuring at just around 25cm tall, this is super portable that we can carry from room to room or even from place to place. I’d even consider bringing it to work as it fits snugly in my cotton tote.
As my Ray projector is the smart version, the projector has an inbuilt keystone to allow us to tilt the projector to project at a higher level or from the sides.
To be honest, I had some difficulty adjusting the 4 points to fit into the screen into the small wall I had above my bed. The screen was projected from the corner of the room, so it was definitely projecting from an angle and not straight on at 90 degrees. Despite that, I managed to use the controls to adjust the 4 corners and warp the screen perfectly into the empty wall I had.
Adjustable stand
We have the option to get the Rize adjustable stand sold by LUMOS for the projector. It allows it to be placed on a perfectly flat surface (the plate), and you can shift it up and down to fit the projection height requirements of your wall in any way you want it. The stand is adjustable from 90cm to 120cm. The only downside to this Rize stand is that the base is rather big for the Ray projector. The base is at least 3 times the size of the Ray projector so it can defeat the purpose of having a portable projector. I wish LUMOS can design a separate stand just for Ray projector.
Price & Warranty
The LUMOS RAY is priced at only S$199 and the RAY Smart (mine) at S$298. Customers who need an adjustable projector stand can add the RIZE Adjustable Stand for only S$55.
LUMOS offers a full 1 year local warranty and dedicated customer support.
