Hi there!
Are you someone who loves high-teas? Skip the heavy lunch or dinner meal and leave the space for savoury small bites and most of all, desserts? I am!
A few weeks back, Covelli invited a few of bloggers to test their high tea menu! I was excited to be picked as one of the few because I LOVE desserts.
Quietly tucked in one corner at Basement 2 of Orchard Central, away from the buzz at Orchard road, you find yourself at a nicely decorated restaurant with an open kitchen concept. The first “food” that greet you are the cakes and desserts on the glass display at the counter!
Being a fan of Matcha I have to try the Matcha cheesecake in that martini like glass above! I thought it was mousse at first but no, it is cheesecake! With such a texture, I am sure the cheesecake is creamy yummm.
Seeing the chefs at work in the open kitchen concept really makes you wonder if they are preparing your dish. Not a good idea when you can’t wait to dig in!
Covelli even has a room for V.I.Ps. If you would like to hold functions or parties, you can consider Covelli! The whole room gives off a posh vibe.
And if you are hungry and would like to satisfy your hunger…for shopping that is, Covelli has their own brand – ESYE! They have a lot of work clothes in my opinion!
And they even have an array of accessories for you to choose from!
Finally, let me briefly talk about the High Tea menu.
For SG$9.90++ per person,ย you get to enjoy 4 cakes and pastries, together with a pot of tea from Covelli’s extensive selection menu! Looking at the tea menu above, each pot of tea is already around $8 ala carte. Hence, the set is so worth it!ย The cakes and pastries differ day to day, depending on the Chef’s special as well as what’s available on that day. Hence, the selection that you’ve tasted might not be available everyday as the menu changes.
Some of their popular teas are Lord’s William Promise and Grandma’s garden.
I was tempted to try Dokota sunset because it contains chocolate! However, if you have a sweet tooth, this tea is not for you because the chocolate and the black tea ended up being a little bitter.
If you want something light, I would recommend the flavoured green tea.
Smoked duck bruschetta and tomato bruschetta.
One word, deliziosissima! The bruschetta isย perfectlyย toasted to the right crunch and the sauce that complements theย tomatoย or smoked duck is not too overwhelming. Myย favouriteย – have to try them again!
Now, onto the cakes! These four differentย flavoredย cakes are not the whole range that Covelli offer. For the high tea set, the chefs will handpick for you their cakes of the day!
Top to Bottom:
Chocolate cake: The chocolate cake is pretty rich. Being aย chocolateย lover, I fell in love with this! If this is more moist, I would be head over heels! Love chocolate? You better wish the chef picked this out for you!
Orange cream carrot cake: Unlike usual orange cakes with cream cheese frosting, this cake has orange cream frosting! The chefs probably used a bit of cream cheese as well but it wasn’t heavy because of the orange. The carrot cake is also different in texture. This is more dense like a cheese cake. I have to say this is very filling! The orange is pretty refreshing for me, just that the cake is a little heavy on my stomach.
Peanut butter pie: The crust seems to be made of shortbread pie crust with a layer of peanut butter cream and chocolate each. The peanut butter is not for the faint hearted. If you like eating peanut butter alone, this is for you! This feels a little like Reese but in a pie. One word – sinful.
Mixed berries sponge cake – This cake is more fluffy but still not moist enough for me. This cake is my leastย favoriteย only because I find it a tad sweet for me. The berry syrup was a little too much for me, too sweet, but my other blogger friends find this okay. Perhaps I am just bias because I love chocolate more.
I hope i didn’t make you hungry! If you want to chill out with your friends with a high tea set, this is a place I would recommend.
