5S3C Silk Whitening Mask
5S3C has three types of sheet masks and the one I tried is the whitening mask.
Silk Fibroin Protein, Water, Butylene Glycol, Trehalose, Tremella Fuciformis Sporocarp Extract, Niacinamide, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Tetrapetptide-30 & Glycerin & Water, Arbutin, Phenoxyethanol & Caprylyl Glycol, Xanthan gum, Sodium Hyaluronate, Chlorphenesin, Fragrance, Caprylyl Glycol.
It’s great to see the star ingredient of the mask to be the top ingredient in the ingredient list (the ingredients of the list are always listed based on its concentration from highest to the lowest amount). Generally, I would look at the first 5-6 ingredients in the list. Besides Silk Fibroin Protein, the other ingredient that is high in concentration in the mask is Trehalose which is a plant sugar with hydrating properties. Tremella Fuciformis Sporocarp Extract is from snow mushrooms which has a rich source of polysaccharides and helps to hydrate the skin by binding moisture to its surface. Lastly, niacinamide helps to refine pores.
From just the ingredients alone, I can tell that the mask is packed with hydration and skin refining properties. The mask came in 3 layers and I think this helps to lock all the ingredients and serums in the mask. I first removed the silver layer and applied the sheet mask on my face. After it is positioned correctly, I proceed to peel of the final layer (blue layer). Following the instructions, I left the mask on for 15 minutes.
The only downside to this is the fragrance that people with sensitive skin must take note of. Having said that, I could not smell much fragrance so it was good for me. After removing the mask, I made sure to press in the remaining serum into the face and my face became very supple and hydrated. My previously dry and irritated red patch (from wearing surgical masks) on my cheeks disappeared. Unlike some of my Korean sheet masks which are soaked with serum, this has the right amount of serum and lightweight enough for all to be sunk into the skin after the mask application. This was great as the weather here in Singapore is super humid. I could proceed with layering other essence and serums for the rest of the night time routine without having the face feels sticky and heavy.
5S3C Silk Fibroin Essence
Silk Fibroin Protein, Water, 1,3-Butylene Glycol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Tranexamic Acid, Ascorbyl Glucoside, Chlorphenesin, Phenoxyethanol
This is my first time encountering this kind of droppers which allows the products to flow downwards, to dispense the product. I feel that this design actually made sure that all products are dispensed out when the content inside the bottle is running low and the flow of the drop is following the gravity pull. The plus side of this is that there is no waste of products. One downside is that the bottle is plastic and not in a glass bottle.
The essence is of clear fluid and goes just a tad runny comparing to a serum which makes it sink into the skin much faster.
With just a few ingredients in the essence, you are sure to get the key ingredients in its maximum concentration with Silk Fibroin Protein being the first ingredient in the ingredeint list. Sodium Hyaluronate is a salt form of skin-replenishing ingredient hyaluronic acid and what’s best is that it is supposed to be more effective for our skin than pure hyaluronic acid due to its greater compatibility. Tranexamic Acid is great for preventing discolorations on skin and sunspots. Ascorbyl Glucoside contains a form of vitamin C known to brighten uneven skin tone and lighten discolorations. With these whitening benefits together with silk fibroin protein, I do see a difference in my skin with just one week of application. While I do not see a vast difference in brightening my skin, my skin texture has definitely improved especially at my cheek areas. This essence is also lightweight which allows me to layer other skincare for my night time routine. The only wish I have is for them to actually store this in a glass bottle. I would definitely repurchase this and the mask after I have finished mine.
These products retail at S$9.90 for the whitening mask and S$64.90 for the serum and will be available for purchase on their SG website.
