Singapore Blog Awards 2012: Mary Chia Best Beauty Blog

On June 1, 2012 by Michelle Ng

Hi everyone!

I am probably very late in announcing this as I am in Japan all this time (now you know why my blog is so silent!). In fact, I am still in Japan, blogging from my hotel room. Alright, here is the news, I am one of the finalist for the Singapore Blog Awards 2012!

Please kindly vote for me HERE!

When I first knew about the awards via twitter, I was hesitant in joining it. However, my concept in enjoying life is to give everything a try since there is nothing to lose. And, here I am! The most enticing part of the contest is to hold a spa party with $300 sponsored by Mary Chia! I had the most fantastic time, albeit not the easiest, organizing my own 21st birthday party last year. This year, I wanted to give it a go at organizing another party again. Planning is still in the works, but I would definitely be inviting all my interested readers to come to my spa party! More details would be up soon when the details are finalized. Walking around Japan definitely gave me many ideas for my party. I am so excited!

A few days back, I was given an E-interview by the Omy team regarding this year’s Singapore Blog Awards. Here are my answers!

How do you feel about being one of finalists in Singapore Blog Awards 2012?

First of all, I sincerely felt honoured to be chosen as a finalist among all the participants. I am definitely estatic to be chosen with my first try in entering such a contest. During my first briefing with Mary Chia and Omy, I have met up with other finalists and we have gotten along so well! This is not a contest really in my opinion but more of an eye-opener for me! This journey would definitely be a great experience and I am so glad to be one of the finalists.

When did you start blogging and what drew you to it? Where do you get inspiration for your blog content?

Blogging has been one of my hobbies since I was in secondary school! I have only started on beauty blogging about 3 years back, when my classmate in University introduced me to a blogging platform named Onsugar, and that is where it all started. At the Onsugar platform, I have met many other beauty bloggers from Singapore who share the same passion with me and I have not looked back ever since. Making friends with the same passion really gives me the drive to keep blogging about beauty and all the things that I love.

Ever since I started on beauty blogging, I get hooked onto many Youtube beauty gurus’ videos, mainly from United States and United Kingdom. From these videos, I ended up catching up a lot on different season’s collection launches by various cosmetic brands. As a result, I have an expensive habit of purchasing products from the many of the new launches.  I thought, why not write a blog review about these products, so that I can at least justify my purchase? Henceforth, whenever I purchase a new product, I would pen down on my diary online (blog) and even do a review on this new purchase.

How do you feel about the other Finalists in your category this year? How do you think you will fare compared to them?

Everyone is definitely on par with one another, that is the reason why we are all chosen as the top few finalist with an equal chance of winning. We are each unique in our own way and hence that is what makes our blog special as we cater to different groups of readers. Having met the finalists at the briefing, there is definitely no tension in the air at all! We were so comfortable with one another, you wouldn’t believe it! For this Blog Awards, I believe this would be a fair and even game.

As this is my first try at such a contest, I might need some time to do a little catching up. However, I believe that I am not entirely at a disadvantage as I am an eager learner who learn from mistakes and am never afraid at making them. I believe that that as long as I work hard and put in 100% of my effort, I know whatever the results may be, I had done my best. Most importantly, I learnt from this experience and that I can finally check an item off my bucket list!

Give a reason why readers should visit your blog and vote for you?

Not very happy with ur service @ Jurong East Branch, my son’s face looks dented with marks after extracting black heads.

Hi Linda, I do not work for Mary Chia. You may want to approach Mary Chia directly about their service, thanks.
