Review: Olay Regenerist Night Resurfacing Essence

On October 17, 2012 by Michelle Ng

Hi all!

Today’s my birthday! Well, I celebrated it at the comfort of my own home instead of going out, and therefore I had time to blog before I succumb to my bed after a long day of work. Recently, I blogged about this newly launched essence from Olay HERE.

Olay Regenerist Night Resurfacing Essence – I have given this about 2 weeks of trying and now it is time for a review!

Best way of using this is to use it after you have cleansing your face and toner. As cited in the description, it takes 5 minutes for it to be absorbed into the skin before continuing your skincare regime. Olay also claims that this can replace your current night time moisturizer.

It comes with a nice pump with a lock, perfect for travelling. A good plus is that the bottle is plastic, light and handy.

This essence has gold bits inside and I am not entirely sure what those gold bits are actually.

The texture is pretty watery but not as liquid as some of the essence I have used from other brands (one of which is also a drugstore brand). This essence is definitely not thick and allows fast absorption into my skin, in fact, I think it takes less a 5 minutes for my skin to absorb it, considering that my skin is always thirsty. In case you don’t know, my skin is normal/combination now (no longer dry, yay!), but it does get dry and dehydrated easily without sufficient moisture.

Olay Regenerist Night Resurfacing Essence is meant to harness the power of the night, hydrating, smoothen and renew our skin in just 7 days. Let’s take a look at what I think about it.

Review:

Day 3 – Using this every night without fail, I definitely feel that my skin is smoother. Absorption into my skin is definitely very fast. I used this to replace my night moisturizer.

Day 7 - Pores seems to be smaller although the difference is very slight. However, my skin seems to be slightly dryer than usual. The glycolic acid might be working too hard on my skin that can dry out very easily. In the end, I needed to use a night moisturizer on top of Olay Regenerist Night Resurfacing Essence.

Verdict:

After 2 weeks, I am still using this essence! Thumbs up. If you have oily skin, you might want to use Olay Regenerist Night Resurfacing Essence alone. However, for people with normal to dry skin, I would advise to continue using your night moisturizer together with Olay Regenerist Night Resurfacing Essence. If you skin is still dry, try using this essence every other day, instead of a daily regime. The glycolic acid is working very well in my opinion, almost like my trusty BHA 2% exfoliator. You just need a pea size for this essence, so this bottle is going to last you very long, definitely value for money.
