Review: Hada Labo

On July 12, 2010 by Michelle

I was contacted by 2 weeks ago to try out the Hada Labo products. Let’s be honest, who doesn’t love freebies? Since I am very intrigued by the brand’s star product – Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Face Hydrating Lotion, I decided to try the free items. The company sent the lotion as well as the Hydrating Face Wash. Yes, they are free but I will still give my honest opinions.

As many of you must have already known, the company makes use of the hyaluronic acid technology for their products. Without further a due, I shall start with my review. 🙂

Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Face Hydrating Lotion

Product: 4.5 out of 5
Packaging: 5 out of 5
Quality: 5 out of 5
Overall: 4.5 out of 5
Price: $21.90
Where to purchase it: Watsons
Lasts for: 6 -9 months

According to Hada Labo, one 1g of the lotion is equivalent to 12 grams of water. All I need for day and night is one drop each. For the price, it is a worthy product to buy. I love this product mainly because there is no fragrance and no mineral oil. It is best suited for sensitive skin like mine. I always have flaky or dry patches on my face as my face is lacking of hydration. Whenever I use this lotion, the dry patch would be gone! It is that effective! I love how my face is so bouncy after using the lotion (:

However, because this is a Japanese type of lotion, whereby the lotion is slightly more viscous than western toners, it can get a little sticky. The recommended application for this lotion is to slap the lotion onto your face (gently of course, please don’t hurt yourself in the process). This process is quite long and you might not like it when you are in a hurry. What I like to do instead is to rub the lotion all over my face first and then pat the lotion in the face. This is a lazy and a fast way and it works though! (: In this way, I would also ensure that the lotion is distributed on my face evenly.

There are many other uses for the lotion too. Not only for your face! I used it on my lips too as my lips are always dry and I don’t want to always reply on lip balms. So far it is working on my lips.

In conclusion, the only con is that it takes quite some time for the lotion to be fully absorbed.

Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Face Wash

First of all, I never like face wash in squeeze tubes. I prefer packaging with pumps for convenience. As for the product, it foams and lathers very easily. Is it hydrating? Well, I wouldn’t say that it is as hydrating as the lotion. My face would be squeaky clean, yes, but not as hydrating as I wish it could be. My face would not be tight though, but I was hoping that my face would be as bouncy as after using the hydrating lotion.  The dry patch on my face would still be there after washing my face. Nevertheless, it would be difficult to find a foaming face wash that will not tighten your face after washing. Moreover, this wash is suitable for sensitive skin (: I shall still give this product a thumb up.
