Review: Finished Products of July – December 2011

On December 30, 2011 by Michelle

Being the last day of 2011, I decided to churn out a few posts today before the new year begins! Over the course of July to December, I have finished quite a few products, mainly skincare and hair products. I would be doing short reviews for each product so that it may be useful for some who have been contemplating on trying these products.

Origins Clean Energy Cleansing Oil

This cleansing oil is effective in removing any makeup, mainly for your face. I was not able to afford the Shu Uemura cleansing oil which are highly raved by mainly so I turned to Origins. Back then, I thought Origins is one of the best brand in the world because they claimed that they use natural products. Well, I was kind of wrong, as some ingredients they used, albeit “natural” is not quite effective on our skin, well on my skin at least. Never mind, back to the cleansing oil, I was glad that it worked for me! Only complain here is that the citrus oil that they use, well trying to prove that they use natural products, may be irritating to some skin in fact. Luckily, my skin is able to tolerate that. And I love the smell of this cleansing oil too! If you are a citrus fan, you would love the scent as well.

DKNY Be delicious perfume

Well, there is nothing much I can say here because I believe that is the best apple scented perfume out there in the market!

EOS lemon drop lip balm and EOS rasberry stick lip balm

They work like other EOS lip balms I have tried. Click HERE for the review.

Aussie hair insurance leave in conditioner spray

I love the smell of this conditioner spray because it reminds me of my dog’s shampoo! Weird i know.

Ingredients: Water, Aloe Vera (Aloe Barbadensis) Leaf Juice, Ginseng (Panax Ginseng) Root Extract, Silk Extract, Amodimethicone, Cetrimonium Chloride, Trideceth 12, Polyquaternium 11, PEG 40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, PPG 2 Methyl Ether, DMDM Hydantoin, Fragrance (Parfum), Disodium EDTA, Polysorbate 80, Aminomethyl Propanol, Citric Acid

How I use it is by spraying on my hair and then combing through it. It does leave my hair shinier and smoother, though not by much. I still make this as a routine everyday because I believe it does condition my hair slightly. And the scent is a big plus! However, I never spray this on my scalp as it would make my scalp greasy which I hate the most.

Neutrogena anti-residue shampoo

This is one drying shampoo and I think the only reason why it dries out your scalp is that is clears out all the residue, dirt and oil on your scalp. This works something like my Burt’s bee volumizing shampoo. Hence with this shampoo, I would need to condition the rest of my hair very well, or else they would be as dry as hay. Nevertheless, this shampoo really ensures that there is not residue left on your scalp. Great for those with oily scalp like mine.

Paula choice skin recovery hydrating treatment mask

I use this every night as a sleeping mask because my skin is that dry, and this really helps retain the moisture in my skin as I sleep. I would probably do another skincare routine post soon. Read my review HERE!

Aveeno Positively Ageless Daily Exfoliating Cleanser

Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Polyethylene, Lauryl Glucoside, Acrylates C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Phenoxyethanol, Glycol Distearate, Laureth-4, Methylparaben, Fragrance, Cocomidopropyl Betaine, Tetrasodium EDTA, Algae Extract, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Lemtomus Edodes Extract, Mushroom Stem Extract. May also contain: Sodium Hydroxide.

This is only of the most gentle exfoliating face wash I have encountered. This face wash has little micro beads in it which helps in exfoliating the skin. Because the beads are tiny are round, they do no harm to my skin and in fact, able to remove the right amount of dead skin cells on my face, allowing my face to appear brighter and more fresh! If you have sensitive skin, do not worry about the exfoliation part.  It is also oil-free, noncomodogenic and soap-free. Soap-free cleansers are less drying that those with soap and since you are already exfoliating your skin, you do not want to dry out your skin further. This soap-free factor really win me over. I highly recommend this cleanser!

Paula choice BHA 2% liquid

I have tried other BHA 2% from Paula Choice, namely the one in gel or lotion and those are way to dry for me. My skin peels. If you encouter that, or if you have really dry skin, then I suggest the BHA 2% in liquid form. Read my review HERE.

B.liv Off with those heads serum

The only serum I trust in tackling my black heads! Of course there are other brands out there, but I am sticking with this still. Read my review HERE. I had been using this bottle since November 2011, for every other night, and this bottle lasted me for almost a year!

Tresemme Salon Silk Conditioner

Remember the buzz about Tresemme when their shampoo and conditioner range first arrive our shores a few months back? Well I was one of the crazy few who purchased the shampoo and conditioner duo with the buy one for one promotion. I really like this conditioner. It is definitely not high end but coming from Tresemme, the quality is there. This conditioner really smoothes out my hair well, since I already have dry hair. Another use for this conditioner for me is that I use this as a shaving cream for my legs. This ensures that my skin is smooth as well! I love multi-functional products. Definitely will re-purchase!

Organix Moroccan Argan Oil Moisturizing Treatment

Surprisingly, I find this less effective than my Essence shea butter treatment mask. I am not sure the reason why, but perhaps I have too high an expectation for this products since I was highly recommended by others. Perhaps I will find the treatment oil from this range and give this series another go.

That’s all! I hope all these short reviews are useful!
