Hi all!
Our hands are normally an ignored part of our skin that deserved a little more payingย attention to. A telltale sign on the age of a woman is usually seen on the neck or our hands. The skin on our hands is thinner which causes it more prone to wrinkling and drying out.
A little background on my hands, I have/hadย eczema and any product that has too much fragrance or parabens may easily trigger my itchy spot, which is always the joints between the fingers. So finding the right formulaย for my hand creams is not easy.
While normal body moisturizers work the same as hydrating the hands, I still like to invest in a good old hand moisturizer that sinks into the skin fast and doesn’t leave a greasy residue. My all-timeย favourite is the AESOP Resurrection Aromatique Hand Balm and a new favourite, LUSH cosmeticsย Dream Cream Hand and Body Cream.
Having lived near Jurong East previously, I always pass by Westgate level 1 on the way home from work. The Aesop store always had testers at the storefront for passersby to try and that was when I fell in love with this particular hand balm.
The Resurrection Aromatique hand balm is gently fragranced with lavender. The natural, skin softening oils in the balm include sweet almond, coconut, macadamia ternifolia seed, mandarin peel, cedarwood bark, and rosemary. This hand balm delivers hydration straight to my skin. Even though it is a medium weight skin, the after application is never a greasy mess.
The soothing fragrance is a plus point for me and always relaxes me. After each application, I like to take in a deep breath with my hands cupped around my nose – which is super therapeutic for me.
While Lush Dream Cream is meant for both body and hands, I like to use this mainly for my hands because the tub I had is small. This makes it easy to also carry around in my bag which meant I have hydration for both my hands and body on the go.
“Softer than freshly-laundered clouds and a gentle oat milk rain; this herbal delicacy has the consistency of cool liquid silk. Light, cooling and easily absorbed into the skin, the combination of calming chamomile, organic, extra virgin olive oil and creamy, Fair Trade, organic cocoa butter quickly soothes and softens.” from the Lush website.
The main ingredients I feel that provide the maximum moisture has to be the cocoa butter and oat milk. Apparently, there was also this hype that this cream can get rid of eczema too! Whether it can get rid of eczema, that is hard to prove, but it definitely soothesย any irritated or troubled skin. One of the ingredients is rose oil which is supposed to be good at reducing redness too. [EDIT] There were claims saying that Lush Dream Cream is suitable for those with Eczema. Having Eczema myself on my pams, I did not, however, find that this works well for my Eczema patch. While it hydrates, it definitely did not cure it for sure. I would still have to rely on my creams from the National Skin Center, prescribed by my doctor.
Like the Aesop hand balm (left), the Lush dream cream (right) gets absorbed into the skin nicely as well. Both of them have the lavender scent which is extra soothing.
AESOP Resurrection Aromatique Hand Balm retails for SGD35 for 75ml.
